She wanted to reach her goal of becoming an Early Childhood Educator

Claudia needed the confidence and support to improve her reading and writing skills to pursue her educational goals. Now, halfway through her program at Sheridan College, Claudia credits the workers at SELF for helping her achieve her dreams. She is so proud of her success and the help she received that she now works to fundraise for SELF and talks on behalf of SELF programs to various organizations.

Mery didn’t have the confidence to plan her future
Graduating high school without strong literacy skills was holding her back

Mery graduated from high school without the strong reading and writing skills she needed to pursue further education. After drifting in and out of various jobs, Mery turned to SELF for help. With a specialized training plan, Mery quickly built her literacy skills and gained the confidence she needed. Now a Dental Assistant, Mery is sure she can continue her education and become a Dental Hygienist, thanks to her tutor at SELF and her own determination to learn.
